PEEL & STICK WALLPAPER INSTALLATION
-
PREPARE AND PLAN YOUR INSTALLATION
Send the kids to school.
Make some coffee.
Find your air-pods.
Clean your wall. Cleaning your is more important than installing your wallpaper. Please use the 3M Enhanced Cleaning Method to give your wallpaper the best chance to stick to your wall paint. Watch this video ->Get Ready to roll: Lay down each panel on the floor in the correct order to create a pattern. We label them with numbers but always double check those numbers are correct. Make sure the upper part is the one that goes on to the top of the wall.
Plan & Setup: Once you have the panels in the correct order, start with the upper left corner of the room, hang them from LEFT to RIGHT to ensure a smooth repeat of the design across the wall. Pick up Panel 1 and place it on the wall allowing for at least ½” overhang and making sure there is enough at the bottom to cover the entire height of the wall.
-
START INSTALLATION
Take a deep breath: Once the position is good, secure it on the wall with painter’s tape. Have a look at it, make sure the placement is perfect, then peel away 12 inches of the paper backing from the top of the roll. (Keep the painter’s tape that is on the rest of the panel securing it to the wall, so it doesn’t move)
With the wallpaper folded hanging backwards in front of you, cut the backing paper that has been peeled away from the adhesive and discard. Place your hands underneath the folded wallpaper top part and proceed to smooth it onto the wall with movements from center to the sides every few inches until you reach the top.
Once the top of the strip is in position, remove the painter’s tape remaining and gently peel the backing paper down 10 inches at a time and smooth the wallpaper onto the wall, moving from the center outwards. I do not recommend removing the entire panel and try to position again.
Make sure the placement and position of each panel is ok before installing.
-
FINISH INSTALLATION
Install all panels: Pick up your second panel of wallpaper and SECURE IT WITH PAINTERS TAPE ON BOTH SIDES, the left edge of panel 2 should overlap the right edge of the previous panel by ¼ inch. Align the design accross the entire panel to make sure it is seamless. Once this panel is in perfect position secure it with painter’s tape and repeat the previous process.
Trim & Remove Overlap: Since the Fabric Media is not 100% opaque, the overlap will be noticeable. Torevmoe it use a sharp utility knife with a new blade to trim any excess at the edges of the wall and any excess on the right edge of your installation area. The ¼ inch overlap on the edge of each panel should be removed for a much better finished look. Watch this video ->
Secure your Panels: After all your panels are installed, proceed to peel down approximately 5 inches of wallpaper, and Add 5 to 10 GLUE DOTS horizontally across the top of the wall near the ceiling. Re-apply the wallpaper and press with your hands to make sure the glue dots are engaged in between the wall and wallpaper.
